The 52-year-old was among the many departures from the England set-up, including the head coach Chris Silverwood and managing director Ashley Gilesand faced criticism for multiple batting collapses by the team in Australia.

“ACB had started the recruitment process for the recruitment of a new head coach, through which Graham Thorpe was selected as the best available nominee for the position,” the board said in a statement.
“He will step into the role of head coach ahead of Afghanistan’s upcoming international events.”
