Disclosing this to media persons after the Dussehra Executive Committee meeting at the Deputy Commissioner’s office here on Saturday, Mysore district in-charge minister ST Somashekar said that in the Dussehra High Power Committee meeting it has been decided that the Palace Board will give Rs 5 crore for this. . Expenses incurred for the events of the palace.

He said that the Mysore District Administration and the Mysore Municipal Corporation would submit estimates based on the programs planned for the festival and demand funds.

The Minister said that this year it is going to be a grand Dussehra after two years of low-key celebrations on COVID-19. He said that this year a lot of publicity will be done to showcase Mysore Dussehra and attract visitors from all over the world.

Mr. Somashekar said that the decision on the person to be invited for the inauguration of Dussehra festival atop Chamundi Hills would be taken by the Chief Minister. He said, ‘We also seek suggestions on this but the final decision rests with the Chief Minister.

Three Jumbo for Srirangapatna Dasara

Mr. Somashekhar said that each of the Srirangapatna Dussehra and Chamarajanagara Dussehra festivals would get an amount of ₹ 1 crore.

Three elephants have been demanded for Jambu Savari at Srirangapatna as part of the celebrations. The suggestion was agreed upon in the executive meeting.

The minister said that the first batch of nine elephants for Dussehra would be flagged off on Sunday at Veeranahosahalli Gate near Hunsur at the Gajapayana program. “There were suggestions to bring elephants from the forests to Mysore on foot instead of on trucks as part of the Gajapayana. The minister said that the grand entry of Dussehra elephants into the palace will be held on August 10. The second batch of five elephants will come later.
