‘Gross misconduct’: James Faulkner charged with damage to hotel property, banned for life from PSL

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise Quetta Gladiators on Saturday issued a joint statement on the allegations leveled by Australia all-rounder James Faulkner. The cricketer withdrew in the middle of the tournament citing irregularities in payment of his contract fee.

In response, the board and franchise condemned Faulkner’s act and called it “gross misconduct”. Under the disciplinary action, the cricketer has been barred from participating in the PSL in future.

The PCB also claimed that Faulkner had intentionally damaged the property of the hotel where he was staying, prior to his departure, and that the board had to pay the damages. It said it also received reports and complaints from immigration officials that Faulkner’s behavior at the airport was inappropriate and abusive.

“In view of the above, and taking seriously the blatant misconduct of Mr. James Faulkner, which was an attempt to defame the PCB, Pakistan Cricket and HBL Pakistan Super League, it is unanimously agreed by the PCB and the Franchisees that Mr. James Faulkner will not be drafted in future HBL Pakistan Super League events,” read a part of the statement.
