Guest Teacher in Delhi Govt. Schools will get salary hike: Sisodia

Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisoda on Thursday directed the Directorate of Education to increase the remuneration of guest and contract teachers in Delhi government schools.

The order comes a day after a delegation of “Delhi Guest Teachers’ Association” met Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Mr Sisodia and made a representation on behalf of all guest teachers posted in government schools.

Mr Sisodia asked the DoE to work out the details of increasing the remuneration and submit a proposal. “This will enable them to live their lives with dignity and continue to serve with all their heart,” he added.

Mr Sisoda said the decision was taken “keeping in mind inflation, rising cost of living, and hardship being faced by families due to COVID-19”. “The condition of guest teachers in Delhi has improved in comparison to other states in the last six years,” he said.

However, the government did not specify how much the remuneration would be increased. There are about 22,000 guest teachers working in government schools, which have been promised to be permanent by 2015.
