Guests served behind bars at Jharkhand’s ‘Kaidi Kitchen’ get a taste of life in jail

A ‘Kaidi Kitchen’ has opened in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand, with an aim to give its customers a “unique experience” of dining inside a jail cell. As reported by news agency ANI, the restaurant comes complete with seating areas inside the jails, with waiters dressed in prisoner uniforms and a jailer in handcuffs.

Photos going viral on Twitter show guests sitting at tables inside a jail cell with a bar and locks on. A man dressed in the uniform of a constable stands guard at the bar. Decorations include walls that give the appearance of un-stuccoed bricks, tall windows, and animated figures of police and thieves displayed around.

Some Twitter users were baffled by the topic. “If it is the theme of the prison, I think these restaurants serve food in smelly utensils and no AC, sitting on plain iron benches,” remarked one sarcastically.

A bail-out cafe in Uttar Pradesh is almost opposite to the prisoner kitchen. However, the latter is not a simulation but the real deal. A unique holiday spot, Bell Out Cafe, has been built inside the Police Lines in Saharanpur city of Uttar Pradesh. It is constructed after the refurbishment of an old police cafeteria.

The UP Police Department recently published a video of the newly constructed cafe. Ms Preeti Yadav, an ASP Saharanpur, expressed in the video that whenever police officers go to any of the traditional cafes, they are judged, thus now they can spend peaceful time in bail-out cafes. Notably, bail-outs are available not only to police officers, but also to civilians.
