Surat: A senior citizen accused in a cheating case committed suicide by jumping from the second floor of the court building. Italia jumped from the second floor of the old building in the district court complex and suffered head injuries, Inspector AA Chieftain Salabatpura police station official said.
“An FIR was registered against the accused a few days back and he was arrested. We produced him in the court, which sent him to judicial custody after his police remand was over,” he said.
Chaudhary said that while being taken back from the court, the accused suddenly escaped from the grip of the personnel and jumped from the second floor of the building.
Italia was taken to a hospital where she died, the official said, adding that further investigations are on in this regard.
