Gujarat government will give Rs 5,000 assistance to tribal members for Ram Janmabhoomi pilgrimage

Tourism and Pilgrim Development Minister Purnesh Modi said that the BJP government in Gujarat has decided to provide financial assistance of Rs 5,000 per person from the tribal community of the state for the pilgrimage to Shri Ram Janmabhoomi in Ayodhya. Addressing a gathering on the occasion of Dussehra on Friday at Shabri Dham, a pilgrimage site associated with Lord Shri Ram in Gujarat’s Dang district, Modi also said that from now on the state-level ‘Dussehra Festival’ will be organized every year at different places. He said that the tribal pilgrims would be given financial assistance of Rs.5,000 per person to visit Shri Ram Janmabhoomi. Various tribal dance forms of Gujarat were showcased in the state level Dussehra festival program at Shabri Dham.

Modi also said that the Gujarat government is working to develop a tourism circuit between the ‘Statue of Unity’ at Saputara in Dang district and Kevadiya in Narmada district, which connects the tribal areas of the eastern part of Gujarat. Modi, who also holds the Department of Roads and Buildings in the Bhupendra Patel government, said the celebration of Dussehra festival, especially in tribal areas, would highlight the cultural and historical heritage of such areas. Significantly, the assembly elections in Gujarat are due in December next year. Ram Janmabhoomi is believed to be the birthplace of Lord Rama in Ayodhya.

Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, which was set up in November 2019 following the Supreme Court verdict, has been tasked to build a temple of Lord Ram in Ayodhya. Speaking on the occasion on Friday, Valsad MP KC Patel said that the Narendra Modi government has ensured the construction of Ram temple in Ayodhya and the central and Uttar Pradesh governments are working together for the development of that area.

In a surprise move, which is seen as an attempt by the ruling BJP to blunt the anti-incumbency wave ahead of the assembly elections, the entire cabinet in Gujarat was replaced with fresh faces with the resignation of Chief Minister Vijay Rupani in September who had replaced Bhupendra Patel.
