Gujarat Riots: ‘Behind the Scene Conspiracy’ Day after Supreme Court’s clean chit to Modi to Teesta Setalvad, Sreekumar

In a swift action a day after the Supreme Court dismissed all charges against the Prime Minister Narendra Modi As part of a larger conspiracy in the 2002 Gujarat riots, activist Teesta Setalvad and former senior IPS officer RB Sreekumar were arrested for allegedly fabricating evidence, forgery and criminal conspiracy.

The top court said that on the basis of false claims, a huge criminal conspiracy was created at the highest level. The Supreme Court in its detailed order on Friday said, “The same stand collapsed like a pack of cards… In fact, all those involved in such abuse of process should stand in the dock and proceed as per law.” ” ,

It said: “We find strength in the Respondent-State argument that the testimony of Sanjiv Bhatt, Haren Pandya and RB Sreekumar were merely meant to sensationalize and politicize the issues, though full of lies.”

This was cited by government sources to justify the FIR lodged in Gujarat on Saturday against Setalvad, Sreekumar and Bhatt (who are already behind bars). Earlier in the day, Union Home Minister Amit Shah in an interview with ANI named Setalvad and his NGO for submitting false claims before the Special Investigation Team (SIT) and the SC.

According to the FIR, Bhatt, Setalvad and Sreekumar had hatched a conspiracy to abuse the process of law by fabricating false evidence and initiated false and malicious criminal proceedings against innocent people. The FIR also states that Setalvad and others conspired and prepared false records to implicate innocents.

“Please refer to the above material and other materials, the judgment of the Supreme Court and on an independent basis, to ascertain the conspiracy behind the scenes and the financial and other benefits, an FIR may be lodged for inducement to grievous commission.” The offense is committed in connivance with other persons, institutions and organisations,” the FIR stated.

The Solicitor General of the Supreme Court has submitted that the SIT should have actually taken steps to prosecute Setalvad, “for causing harm to the elected representatives, bureaucracy and police administration of the entire state of Gujarat for wrong purposes”, SC’s decision noted.

The SG also told the top court that the allegation of a larger conspiracy behind the riots was made by Setalvad “only out of vengeance so as to bring defamation to the entire state of Gujarat”, the judgment said.

The Supreme Court decision also noted the state’s contention that Setalvad, for reasons best known to him, failed to continue his harassment and harassment on the basis of the baseless allegations in the complaint (of Jakka Ahsan Jafri). was interested. Justice with the real aim of boiling and sensationalizing the pot and politicizing the crime.
