Bardoli: Three people died due to a massive fire in a textile dyeing and printing mill near Bardoli town. Gujarat On Thursday morning, an official said.
Bardoli chief fire officer PB Gadhvi said ten workers were rescued from the three-storey building, while the bodies of three people hired for carpentry work were found on the first floor. the mill is located Palasena Near Bardoli in Surat district. The fire started at 3.30 am and was brought under control after 12 hours of effort. Gadvi said. Fire officials said the deceased were carpenters hired by the mill owner to make office furniture. “They slept on the first floor of the mill after finishing their work.

Since the fire was classified as ‘major’, 15 fire fighting vehicles and 100 firefighters from Bardoli, Surat, Sachin, Vyara, Gandevik, Navsari, Bilimora and two private firms were also pressed into service, Gadhvi said. After the fire spread, most of the laborers came out safely with the help of local people.
Firefighters rescued 10 other workers trapped in the rear of the mill. Gadhvi said, “Local people claimed that the fire broke out due to explosion of gas cylinders after a short circuit. The flames spread rapidly as there were highly inflammable chemicals, dyes and yarn inside. Large quantities of ready-made garments and raw materials destroyed.” , adding that the doubling operation was still going on.
