Gujarat: VHP members detained to protest against burqa-clad students appearing for talent test in Surat school. Surat News – Times of India

Surat: Situation turned tense PP Savani School, Hirabaghwhen a group of men Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) on Tuesday reached to protest against a group of girl students of Class IX appearing for the Talent Search Test (TST).
Police reached the spot and took 12 people into custody. They were later released.
VHP leaders met the school principal and demanded that hijab or burqa should not be allowed in the school. However, before the situation got out of control, the police reached the spot and detained the protesters who refused to leave the school premises.
TST was organized by the Education Department and it started at 9 am on Tuesday. Local residents saw a group of students wearing burqa entering the school premises in a car.
As the local residents gathered near the school gate to protest, VHP workers also reached the spot.
VHP Surat vice-president Nilesh Akbari said, “Some people are trying to build Shaheen Bagh. Gujarat And we will not tolerate such acts. We did not do anything wrong and met the school principal and expressed our concern.
