Guntur district will be reorganized

The districts with diverse topography, ranging from the rugged hills of Palnadu to the sandy soil of Bapatla, will be reorganized into three districts after the government issues a gazette notifying the formation of 26 districts in the state.

As per the preliminary notification issued on January 25, Guntur district has been reorganized into Guntur, Bapatla and Palnadu/Narasaraopet districts.

Guntur district comprises the Guntur and Tenali revenue divisions, and includes Tadikonda, Thullur, Firangipuram, Medikonduru, Guntur West, Guntur East, Prathipadu, Vatticerukuru, Pedanandipadu and Pedakani mandals. Tenali Revenue Division comprises Tenali, Kollipara, Ponnur, Chebrolu, Duggirala, Kakumanu, Mangalagiri and Tadepalli.

Bapatla district comprises some mandals in Bapatla and Chirala revenue division – Vemuru, Kollur, Tsundur, Bhattiprolu, Amarathaluru, Repalle, Nizampatnam, Nagaram, Cherukupally, Bapatla, Pittalavanipalem and Karlapalem. The following mandals in Ongole revenue division are also included in Bapatla district: Chirala, Vetapalem, Adanki, Santhamgaluru, Ballikurva, Korisapadu, Parchur, Yednapudi, Karamchedu, Inkolu, Chinganjam and Martur.

Palnadu/Narasaraopet district comprises 14 mandals in Gurjala and Guntur revenue divisions and 13 mandals in Narasaraopet division. They are Gurjala, Dachepalli, Piduguralla, Machavaram, Macherla, Veldurthi, Durgi, Rentachintala, Karempudi, Pedakurapadu, Belmakonda, Achampet, Krosuru, Amaravati.

A district-level committee has suggested that temporary accommodation may be provided at facilities in Bapatla and Narasaraopet. AP HRD Office has been suggested for Collector Office/Camp Office at Bapatla. At Narasaraopet, the offices of Nagarjuna Sagar Project have been suggested for this purpose.
