The Krishnagiri police on Sunday seized gutkha worth over Rs 4 lakh here.
According to the police, based on a tip-off, the vehicles were checked at Thandakuppam Junction on the Krishnagiri-Chennai National Highway. The police stopped a vehicle and recovered sacks of gutkha and other banned tobacco items and confiscated them. The driver was arrested.
Police said 505 kg of banned goods and vehicle worth ₹4.21 lakh have been seized. The driver was smuggling goods from Bengaluru to Thiruppathur. Police is looking for other accused in the case.
