Gyanvapi: Another Shivling seen in Gyanvapi campus, claims former Mahant of KVT. Varanasi News – Times of India

VARANASI: Reinforcing the claims of the plaintiffs in the Shringar Gauri-Gyanvapi case, Dr VC Tiwari, a former Mahant of Kashi Vishwanath Temple (KVT) said on Saturday that there was another small Shivling which was placed in a shelf on the western wall. Gyanvapi Campus Which should be seen by a competent authority. However, an official of Anjuman Intizamiya Masjid (AIM) termed the claim as “baseless”.
Dr. Tiwari Claims to have seen this Shivling and has shown some pictures of it Gyanvapi premises. “I do not know whether this Shivling still exists at the same place or has been removed from its place. I demand that the competent authorities clarify this.
Showing some other old photographs, he said that the figures of lotus flowers and bells can also be seen on the walls. In another picture, some children can be seen playing in the part of the Gyanvapi complex where Shringar Gauri’s temple is located. He claimed that in another picture, the back wall of the Gyanvapi structure is clearly visible, which looks like an ancient temple.
Referring to the pond built in the Gyanvapi campus, Dr. Tiwari said that Gyanvapi means ‘well of knowledge’ in English. “The idol of Nandi and the idol of Lord Hanuman are visible behind this pond, which was constructed by Lord Shiva himself with his trident. After bathing in it, Goddess Parvati used to worship Lord Vishweshwara,” he said.
He further said that he would file a petition in the local court to allow regular ‘worship’ of the Shivling found during the recent survey.
Dr Tiwari told TOI on Saturday, “I am going to file a petition in the local court on Monday, requesting the daily religious rituals and worship of Shivling during the recent survey.” Vishwanath for generations.
“The Shivling found in the Gyanvapi complex cannot be left without daily worship,” he said.
However, refuting the claim of Dr. Tiwari, Joint Secretary of AIM, SM Yasin said, “His (Dr. Tiwari) claim is baseless. There is no ‘Takha’ on the wall in Gyanvapi campus. We do not know what he is talking about in which picture,” Yasin said, adding that such baseless claims can disturb the peace and harmony of the city.
During a recent survey of the Gyanvapi complex by a court-appointed commission, a Shivling-like structure was found in the mosque’s Wuzu Khana (Ablution Pond). The Hindu side claims it to be a Shivling, while the Muslim side calls it a fountain. The survey report has been submitted to the court. District Judge will hear the matter on Monday Supreme court count.
