Gyanvapi case: Important decision of Varanasi court today, Section 144 implemented. 5 points

A district court in Varanasi will pronounce the verdict on Monday in the Shringar Gauri-Gyanvapi case. District Judge AK Vishvesh had last month reserved the order in the matter till September 12.

The judgment pertains to the hearing of a petition by Hindu women seeking permission to worship Hindu deities in the Gyanvapi mosque premises.

Security was tightened and prohibitory orders (Section 144) were imposed in Uttar Pradesh’s Varanasi on Sunday, a day ahead of the district court’s order. “A court in Varanasi is likely to pronounce a verdict on an important matter. Section 144 was imposed in the city. Police force is deployed in areas where mixed population lives. Patrolling is on. We are trying our best to see if any law is passed. Do not create a situation of order.” Police Commissioner A Satish Ganesh.

The petition was filed by five Hindu women seeking permission to worship the Shringar Gauri Sthal within the Kashi Vishwanath-Gyanvapi mosque complex.

To maintain law and order, the entire city has been divided into sectors, which have been allotted police force as per their requirement. Police have deployed forces in areas where a mixed population lives in the city and patrolling is on to ensure no law and order. The situation arises on hearing of a petition by five Hindu women seeking permission to worship the Shringar Gauri Sthal within the Kashi Vishwanath-Gyanvapi Masjid complex.

Checking has been intensified in the border areas, hotels and guest houses of the district, while social media is also being monitored.

The Hindu side had claimed in the trial court that a Shivling was found during a videography survey of the Gyanvapi Masjid-Shringar Gauri complex, but the Muslim side opposed it.

The petition was filed by five Hindu women seeking permission to worship the Shringar Gauri Sthal within the Kashi Vishwanath-Gyanvapi mosque complex.

Following this, a local court in Varanasi ordered a videography survey of the premises in May. The survey work was completed on 16 May and the report was presented in the court on 19 May.
