The district court had fixed July 12 for hearing on July 4 as the Muslim side had sought more time to present its arguments.

Earlier, five women had filed a petition seeking permission for daily worship of Hindu deities whose idols are located on the outer wall of the mosque. The trial court had ordered a videography survey of the premises. The survey work was completed on 16 May and the report was presented in the court on 19 May.

The Hindu side had claimed in the court that a Shivling was found during a videography survey of the Gyanvapi Masjid-Shringar Gauri complex.

Later, on the orders of the Supreme Court, the matter is now being heard in the district judge’s court from May 23.
