Hacker stole Rs 1.43 cr from Bill Murray’s NFT wallet during charity auction from Hollywood actor

In April, hackers compromised an Instagram account belonging to the Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) NFT collection, leading to the theft of $3 million worth of cryptocurrency.

Earlier this year, OpenC, the world’s largest NFT marketplace, confirmed that it was vulnerable to a phishing attack and that at least 32 users lost $1.7 million of their valuable NFTs.

A hacker has siphoned $185,000 from Hollywood star Bill Murray’s digital wallet after successfully completing a charity auction of non-fungible tokens (NFTs). CoinDesk reports that a hacker stole funds from his personal wallet just as Murray’s NFT operation that raised 119.2 Ethereum (about $185,000) for charity kicked off.

According to Murray’s team, the hackers sent the stolen funds to wallet addresses associated with crypto exchange Binance and Unionchain.ai. According to the report, “an unidentified person also attempted to take non-fungible tokens from the actor’s personal collection.”

The hacker also attempted to steal 800 NFTs from the Murray Collection. Murray’s wallet security team immediately swung into action and stopped the hackers from erasing his entire digital wallet.

The report mentions that Murray’s team has filed a police report and is working with crypto analytics firm Chainalysis to find the hacker. In April, hackers compromised an Instagram account belonging to the Board App Yacht Club (BAYC) NFT collection, leading to the theft of $3 million worth of cryptocurrency.

Earlier this year, OpenC, the world’s largest NFT marketplace, confirmed that it was vulnerable to a phishing attack and that at least 32 users lost $1.7 million of their valuable NFTs. The hack comes after OpenSea announced a new smart contract upgrade with a one-week deadline to remove dormant NFTs on the platform.
