Amravati Lok Sabha MP Navneet Rana and her MLA husband Ravi Rana, who were granted bail on Wednesday morning, were not released from jail today as their release orders could not be obtained from the concerned magistrate court in due course. The Rana couple is likely to be released from jail on Thursday.

Rana’s lawyers said they would get the release order from the court on Thursday and then he would be taken to Byculla and Taloja jails.

Navneet Rana and Ravi Rana got bail from Mumbai sessions court on Wednesday with several conditions in the Hanuman Chalisa controversy.

MP Navneet Rana and her husband Ravi Rana, an independent MLA, were arrested on April 23 from their Mumbai residence after announcing that they would recite Hanuman Chalisa outside Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray’s house in Bandra. .

Earlier on Wednesday, Navneet Rana, who was arrested on charges of sedition and promoting enmity, was shifted from Byculla Jail to JJ Hospital for treatment of his spondylosis. Later in the evening he was taken back to the jail.

Rana’s lawyer gave details of his health and on Monday wrote to the Byculla jail superintendent, saying that the BJP leader has spondylosis which is increasing due to continuous sitting in the jail and lying on the floor.

He said that Rana would have to undergo a CT scan so that the doctors could understand the gravity of his condition, adding that the jail authorities refused permission for the same.

“Navneet Rana is suffering from spondylosis which is increasing due to continuous sitting and lying on the floor in jail. In view of this, he was taken to JJ Hospital on 27th April. The doctor of JJ Hospital has specifically written that it is mandatory To do CT scan of Rana so that they can understand how serious the problem of spondylosis is, but the authorities concerned did not allow it. Rana,” said the lawyer.

Two FIRs were registered against the duo on charges of sedition, promoting enmity and assaulting a public servant to prevent the discharge of duty.
