Happy Birthday Sachin Tendulkar!

Former India captain Sachin was born on 24 April 1973 in Mumbai in a Maharashtrian family. Sachin will spend his 49th birthday with Mumbai Indians (MI) in his team bio-bubble as the five-time champions compete in IPL 2022.

His father, Ramesh Tendulkar, a famous Marathi novelist, was a great admirer of the great musician Sachin Dev Burman. This great batsman has set many records during his playing career spanning two decades – 200 Tests, 100 International Centuries, 34357 International Runs… you name them and he had them.

Sachin Tendulkar made his debut against Pakistan at the age of 16 and despite a nose bleed and a few setbacks, Tendulkar went on to become the greatest batsman since the days of Don Bradman.

Tendulkar ended his career as the leading run-getter in international cricket, with 34,357 runs across formats – 15,921, 463 in 200 Tests, 18426 in ODIs and 10 in 1 T20 International.

Tendulkar was the first player to score a double century in ODIs when he scored an unbeaten 200 off 147 balls against South Africa at Gwalior on February 24, 2010. The last time was in 2011 when India defeated Sri Lanka in the final at the Wankhede Stadium.

Sachin played his last match – his 200th Test – in November 2013 at his home ground, the Wankhede Stadium, when India hosted the West Indies in a Test series. Tendulkar also played in the lucrative Indian Premier League for Mumbai Indians. The Master Blaster scored 2334 runs in 78 matches with the help of a century and 13 fifties.
