Happy Eid-ul-Fitr 2022: Eid Mubarak Wishes, Messages, Quotes, Images, Photos, Wishes, WhatsApp Messages & Facebook Status – Times of India

Eid-ul-Fitr is a time of celebration for millions of Muslims around the world, which comes after the end of Ramadan, or Ramzan, the holy month of fasting and prayer. Eid-ul-Fitr, or Eid-al-Fitr, or Sweet Eid, as it is called, is declared after the sighting of the moon. The meaning of the day itself is ‘festival of breaking the fast’.

Most of the communities around the world will celebrate the auspicious day on May 14, 2022.

Eid-ul-Fitr celebrations begin with the sighting of the crescent moon, which is first seen in Saudi Arabia, home to Mecca, the holiest site for Muslims.

While the day is marked by prayer, meeting and feasting with friends and families, the Eid-ul-Fitr celebrations also hold an important note historically. Celebrated in the Islamic month of Shawwal, it is believed that during the holy month, the Prophet Muhammad received his first vision of the Holy Quran, which also marked the beginning of the celebration of the holy day. It is also said that the earliest Eid-ul-Fitr celebrations were held in 624 CE, after the victory in the battle of Jang-e-Badar.

The day also holds a significant value as all those practicing Islam break their month-long fast, focusing on discipline, foreseeing diseases, and religious devotion.

Devotees pay their respects to Allah on Eid, avoiding negative actions throughout the month.

How is the day celebrated?

Eid-ul-Fitr is usually celebrated in a grand manner, and is considered to be the biggest Eid celebration in a year. Celebrations usually begin one evening before the moon is sighted and continue well into the next day. Much like other festivals, feasts, prayers, exchange of cordial greetings and visits to each other. Traditional dishes like Sevaiyan and Sheer Korma are prepared on this day, while with the changing customs, many more dishes have also become popular. The day is also associated with charity as the holy devotees distribute gifts, alms, food and supplies to the poor and needy. Friends and family exchange gifts, wishing each other ‘Eid Mubarak’. The festival is the happiest occasion for the little ones, who get ‘Idi’, which is usually money, gifts or sweets from the elders on the day as a symbol of love.

That being said, while the pandemic continues to tarnish celebrations around the world, this year too, most people will be celebrating Eid at home and would be advised to hold only small gatherings. However, as the day approaches and brings loved ones together, one can always choose to send warm wishes, greetings, prayers and messages to celebrate the event in a grand manner.

If you are celebrating Eid away from home then you can choose these beautiful, rich wishes and messages and share them on your social media platforms.

Wishing you all a very Happy Eid-ul-Fitr 2022!
