Harbhajan Singh said on joining politics before Punjab elections

Just a day after announcing his retirement from all forms of cricket, ace spinner Harbhajan Singh on Saturday said that he has offers from several political parties to join but has not decided to enter politics yet. Is. He said he has not yet decided on his future plans.

Harbhajan, however, said he would “serve Punjab”, perhaps through politics or something. “I know politicians from every party. I will announce my joining any party in advance. Will serve Punjab, maybe through politics or something, no decision has been taken yet.”

During a press conference, the spinner said that as far as his political career is concerned, he will reveal it himself. “Whenever that happens, I’ll let everyone know,” he said.

Harbhajan on Friday announced his retirement from all forms of cricket. He has played 103 Tests, 236 ODIs and 28 T20Is for the Indian cricket team. He took 294 wickets in limited overs cricket.

Earlier this month, Punjab Congress President and former cricketer Navjot Singh Sidhu had met Harbhajan Singh. After the meeting, Sidhu posted a picture and captioned it: “Possible picture….with the shining star of Bhajji”.

This sparked speculation that the spinner might join the Congress party ahead of the assembly elections in Punjab. However, today, Harbhajan said: “It was a casual meeting, elections are near so I understand why people started speculating, but there is nothing to speculate. If I enter politics, I will tell everyone.”

“To be honest, I have not thought about it. I have offers to join from different parties but I have to sit down and think very wisely. It will not be a small decision as it is a demanding job. I don’t want to do it half-heartedly. The day I feel I am ready to do it, I will go for it.”

Harbhajan played his last red-ball match against Sri Lanka in 2015, while his last ODI was against South Africa in the same year. His last match for India was a T20I against the United Arab Emirates in the 2016 Asia Cup. Since then, he was not selected for the Indian side. Harbhajan retired with 417 wickets in 103 Tests at an average of 32.46.
