The Indian team will be led by Hardik Pandya, while Bhuvneshwar Kumar has been made the vice-captain. Rahul Tripathi has also got a place in the team. Hardik will be leading India for the first time, and it was when he led Gujarat Titans to the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 title in his debut season. He is currently part of the squad for the ongoing five-match T20I series against South Africa.

The all-rounder led GT during IPL 2022, scoring 487 runs in 15 matches. He also took eight wickets during the tournament, which ended with a win over Rajasthan Royals in the final.

Meanwhile, Maharashtra batsman Rahul Tripathi earned his first call-up after missing out on selection for the South Africa T20I.

Suryakumar Yadav and Sanju Samson will also make a comeback in the team.

Umran Malik, who joined the Indian team for the first time for the current series against South Africa, has also been retained in the team.

India and Ireland will play two T20Is in Dublin on 26 June and 28 June respectively.

India are 1-2 behind South Africa in the current five-match series. After losing the first two games, the young Indian side came back strongly in the third T20I, which they won by 48 runs in Visakhapatnam on Tuesday.

The fourth and fifth T20 matches will be played on Friday and Sunday respectively.

Some big names including captain Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are missing from the squad due to the sixth and final Test against England, which will conclude last year’s Test series. The fifth match had to be canceled due to the outbreak of Kovid in the Indian camp.
