The Patidar leader, who joined Congress in 2019, was promoted as one of the working presidents of Gujarat Congress in 2020.

“It is a fact that the Congress had benefited a lot in the 2017 assembly elections due to the Patidar reservation movement (under his leadership). However, even after I was made the working president, I was not given any responsibility. I also attended key meetings. Wasn’t invited. to the party. It never arranged my press conference during the last three years.”

In the 2017 elections, the BJP was able to retain power, but its seat tally dropped from 115 to 99 in 2012, while the Congress won 77 seats, an improvement of 16 seats in the 182-member House.
