HC notice to answer body Adesh Gupta on illegal construction

The Delhi High Court on Monday sought response of the Delhi government and the Lieutenant Governor on a plea by Delhi BJP chief and councilor of North Delhi Municipal Corporation alleging unauthorized construction and encroachment on public land.

A division bench of Chief Justice DN Patel and Justice Jyoti Singh also issued notices to North Corporation, Delhi BJP chief Adesh Gupta, who is a corporator from West Patel Nagar constituency, and the chief executive officer of BSES Yamuna.

The plea by advocate Hemant Choudhary alleged that the councilor was involved in unauthorized illegal construction on public land next to a municipal school in front of his residence in West Patel Nagar for the construction of private office.

The plea has also sought a direction to the CEO of BSES Yamuna to immediately remove the electricity connection installed on the encroachment alleged as unauthorized illegal construction on municipal land. It alleged that the councilors have failed to act as per the norms of integrity and conduct which should be followed by the public functionaries.
