HDFC Bank board approves re-appointment of Renu Karnad as director

In a meeting held on Sunday, HDFC Bank’s board of directors approved the reappointment of Renu Karnad as a non-executive director for a period of five years with effect from September 3, 2022.

According to HDFC Bank, Karnad with his rich experience and knowledge of the mortgage sector has been associated with the real estate and mortgage industry in India for over 40 years.

Notably, Karnad has not been debarred from holding the office of Director by virtue of any order of SEBI or any such other authority. He is not related to any director of the bank.

Renu Karnad is the Managing Director of Housing Development Finance Corporation Limited since 2010. She is a post graduate in economics from Delhi University and holds a law degree from Mumbai University. He is also a Parveen Fellow-Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs, Princeton University, USA.

Over the years, she has been the recipient of several awards and accolades, such as the ‘Outstanding Woman Business Leader’ award given by CBNC‐TV18 India Business Leader Awards 2012, inducted into the Hall of Fame, Fortune India magazine’s Most Powerful Women. ‘Top ten powerful women to watch in Asia’ by Wall Street Journal Asia from 2011 to 2019, 2006 etc.
