HDMC to survey roads to check encroachment Hubli News – Times of India

Hubli: Hubli-Dharwad Municipal Corporation (hdmc) will initiate strict action against encroachers of roads and footpaths on all major parts of twin cities. The move comes after a surge in complaints related to encroachment of main roads including Tendersur roads in Hubli-Dharwad.
The officials of HDMC zonal offices will check the encroachment and also verify whether the buildings on either side of the roads have taken permission, violated the permission rules and other norms including payment of tax.
hdmc commissioner Suresh Sonala He said that complaints of encroachment are being received. “We will investigate and initiate strict action against the encroachers,” he said. All zonal assistant commissioners have been instructed to start Survey For the measurement of roads,” he said, “our officials will check whether the building owner has taken necessary permission. If any violation is found during the drive, they will issue notice to the violators as per the rules. Action will be initiated without any pressure.”
The civic body has received several complaints related to encroachment of several roads, mainly in commercial areas like stations. Street, Koppikar Road, Dajiban Peth, Janata Bazar, Subhash Road and Tendersur Road. Also, the civic authorities are facing public criticism for allegedly not paying heed to their complaints and not initiating action against the violators.
Recently, HDMC took action against the complaint of Encroachment on Tendersure Road and cleared that too. This raised the question as to why Vidyanagar was supposed to be the only commercial center. After demanding such action against several other commercial establishments encroaching on the footpath, HDMC officials swung into action. Sources said they will take measurements of roads and footpaths and serve notices to violators. The drive is said to start from Tendersure Road, after which other parts will be covered.
