He is draped in the flag of Ukraine. He has the Russian flag wrapped around him when they give a hug. Against the backdrop of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and the ongoing military conflict between the two countries, this striking image holds a special significance. It is going viral online, which has been shared by many social media users including Congress MP Shashi Tharoor.

Sharing the picture on Twitter, Tharoor wrote, “Heartfelt: A man draped in the Ukrainian flag hugs a woman wearing a Russian flag.” “Let us hope for the victory of love, peace and coexistence over war and conflict,” he said.

Several other Twitter users have also shared this picture from yesterday calling for an end to the conflict.

Although the picture has seen a resurgence in popularity since Russia launched an offensive against Ukraine on Thursday, the photo is actually three years old.

according to Washington PostThis was taken when Julianna Kuznetsova (the woman in the picture) and her fiancé were at a concert in Poland in 2019. Tensions between the two countries were still running – when Russia invaded Ukraine in 2014.

This picture shared on Instagram also went viral in 2019.

On Thursday, Russian troops crossed the border into Ukraine. Russian President Vladimir Putin, defying Western warnings, launched a full-scale ground offensive and airstrikes that claimed dozens of lives and displaced at least 100,000, Reuters news agency reported.
