Healthy Women-Healthy India Cycle Rally in Vijayawada

NTR collector S. Delhi Rao said that the time has come that women who play an important role in family building should take care of their health. Shri Rao flagged off the ‘Swasth Mahila-Swasth Bharat’ cycle rally organized by the Health Department, NTR District from Old Government General Hospital (GGH) on Sunday.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Rao said that society will be healthy if there are women. She said that due to various reasons like change in lifestyle, food habits and pressure from work and family, women face many health problems. They should focus on maintaining a healthy body by exercising and adopting a healthy lifestyle.

He said the government is implementing several schemes through Anganwadi centres, schools and colleges to help girls and women develop healthy food habits.

Deputy Mayor A. Selja and B. Durga; District Chapter President of Indian Red Cross Society Dr. G. Samaram; Integrated Child Development Services Project Director G. Uma Devi; NTR District Medical and Health Officer Dr. M. Suhasini and others participated in the cycle rally.

Later, Shri Rao inspected the works of Sakhi One Stop Center being constructed in the old GGH premises. He asked the officials to complete the construction by the end of this month.
