Additional Director General of Police (Jammu) Mukesh Singh, who visited Lohia’s house at Udaiwala on the outskirts of Jammu, said the 1992 batch IPS officer was found dead on Monday night, with burn marks on his body and his throat slit. was given.
According to the police, the suspect attempted to set ablaze the body of 57-year-old Lohia, who was promoted and appointed as Director General of Prisons in the Union Territory in August.
Preliminary investigation at the crime scene indicated that Lohia may have applied oil to his leg which was showing swelling.
Singh said the killer stabbed Lohia to death and used a broken bottle of ketchup to slit his throat and later tried to set the body on fire.
The guards present at the officer’s residence saw a fire inside his room. The ADGP said that they had to break the door as it was locked from inside.
He said that the preliminary investigation at the crime scene points towards murder.

The main suspect in the case is Yasir Lohar, a domestic help of Lohia, a resident of Halla-Dhandrath village in Ramban district, police said.
The 23-year-old suspect was apprehended by the police after a massive search and is currently being questioned.

The ADGP said the CCTV footage collected from the spot showed the suspected accused running away after committing the crime.
He said, “Lohar was working in this house for about six months… Preliminary investigation revealed that he was very aggressive in his behavior and was also in depression.”
He said that a diary of the accused has also been found, which shows his depressed mental state.

In a mysterious twist, the terror group People’s Anti-Fascist Front (PAFF) claimed responsibility for the killing.
The group claimed that its “special squad” carried out an “intelligence-based operation” targeting high-value targets.
“This is the start of such a high profile operation to warn this Hindutva regime and its allies that we can attack anytime and anywhere with precision. Amidst such a security grid, this is a small gift for the Home Minister who is on his visit. God wishes that we will continue such operations in future also,” PAFF said in a statement online.
However, ADGP Singh said that the initial investigation did not reveal any terror links.
“A thorough investigation is being done to rule out any possibility. The weapon of crime has been confiscated, apart from some documentary evidence showing his (domestic help) mental state.
The incident happened at a time when Union Home Minister Amit Shah is on a three-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir.
