Here’s how you can set up autopay for Jio prepaid recharge

Reliance Jio gives its user an option to set up auto-pay for recharge using is i payment. Telecom service provider has partnered with National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) To provide this functionality of hassle free recharge to the users. Users can automate the recharge process by selecting their preferred plan and have to remember the recharge due date or their plan amount. For amounts up to Rs 5,000, users will not be required to enter the UPI PIN to validate the recharge. However, if the recharge amount exceeds this limit, the user will need to verify his identity through UPI authentication.

In addition, users can create, modify or disable e-mandates for selected tariff plans as per their requirement. Currently, the option has been rolled out only for prepaid users, with postpaid still having to manually pay the bill online or physically in the store.

The option of autopay recharge via UPI was introduced by Jio after the Reserve Bank of India issued new guidelines for auto-debit transactions last year. The new guidelines make re-certification mandatory for auto debut and recurring payment of recharge, fare, insurance premium and other such facilities.

Subsequently, NPIC introduced the UPI autopay functionality, allowing users to set up e-mandate for recurring payments up to Rs 2,000 for electricity, mobile bills, insurance, OTT subscriptions and other such payments.

How to set up autopay for Jio prepaid number?

  • To enable UPI autopay for Jio prepaid, you need to first download the MyJio app and follow these simple steps:
  • Open the “MyJio” app on your device.
  • Go to “Mobile” tab
  • Scroll down and tap on “JioAutoPay” to set up auto payment for recharge.
  • Now you will be redirected to a new page with two options, UPI and bank account for auto payment.
  • Select UPI Option
  • Next, select the recharge plan that you want to opt for auto payment as per your requirements.
  • Provide your UPI ID and set up Autopay facility.

The UPI autopay option has been set for your prepaid number. Thereafter, you will need to verify your request and Re 1 will be debited from your account. After successful verification, this amount will be credited back to your account immediately.

And it’s done! Now you don’t have to worry about your recharge plan running out suddenly!
