The Hero MotoSports Team Rally concluded the Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge with Joaquim Rodrigues on the podium. Third place is the rider’s first podium at the FIM Cross-Country Rallies World Championship, and second place for the team, including Franco Cami’s third-place finish in the Silk Way Rally. The podium finish saw Rodrigues finish fourth at the Cross-Country Rallies World Championships, while Franco Cami finished 8th and Sebastian Bühler 12th.

Joaquim Rodrigues, Rider, Hero Motosports Team Rally: “I had a failure in my navigation system on the podium, but I’m glad I was able to finish. A podium in this rally is a good result for the team, and good motivation The biggest race, just before the Dakar. This is my first podium in the championship and the fact that this is the same race where Paulo made his first podium in 2012, makes this result all the more special for me. Once again wishing my teammate Buhler a speedy recovery, and thanking my team and fans around the world for their continued support.”

The rider finished third in the overall standings after facing several challenges in the final stage, including the failure of his navigation equipment. Despite the challenges, Rodrigues held on to great speed and crossed the finish line +7m7s behind stage leader Adrian van Bevren on the Yamaha. In the final stage of the Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge, riders covered a total distance of 1350 km over five days covering 216 km of challenging terrain.

This is the last rally event for the 2021 season as the Hero MotoSports Team Rally now gears up for the grueling 2022 Dakar Rally in January. The rally goes back to Saudi Arabia and will take place between January 2-14, 2022. The next few weeks will be about preparing for the Dakar for the team, its riders and the machines.
