Sources said Sukhu left for Delhi in the afternoon and is expected to discuss the possibilities of his cabinet induction with the Congress high command.

The much-awaited expansion of the Himachal Pradesh cabinet under Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu is likely to take place on January 7 as the chief minister arrived in Delhi on Thursday for the second time in four days to finalize his list. ministers.

Party sources said Sukhu left for Delhi in the afternoon and is expected to discuss the possibilities of his cabinet induction with the Congress high command. He is expected to return to Dharamshala on the last day of the session and the cabinet formation is expected on Saturday (January 7).

After the CM and his deputy Mukesh Agnihotri took oath, 10 cabinet berths were lying vacant. Sources said eight cabinet ministers are likely to take oath in the first phase.

A month has passed since the results of the Himachal Pradesh assembly elections were declared, but the space in the cabinet has remained vacant. The delay in the formation of the new cabinet caused considerable discontent among the party leaders.

In addition, the opposition has also targeted the new government for nullifying the decisions taken by the cabinet of the previous BJP-led government without its new constitution. Former CM and now Leader of Opposition Jai Ram Thakur on Wednesday hit out at the present government for de-notifying 900 offices and institutions opened by the previous government during the winter session without taking them to the cabinet.

Sukhu has also announced that some of his party’s promises before the election, such as the old pension scheme and Rs 1,500 per month to all women in the state, will be implemented in the first full cabinet. Those inducted in the first phase include senior MLA Harshvardhan Chauhan from Shillai, Dhani Ram Shandil from Solan district, Jagat Negi from Kinnaur, Ghumarwin MLA Rajesh Dharmani, Sudhir Sharma from Kangra, Javali MLA Chander Kumar, Rohit Thakur. Jubbal Kotkhai, Shimla MLA Vikramaditya Singh, Lahaul Spiti MLA Ravi Thakur, Kullu and Sundar Singh Thakur are included.
