Himachal elections: BJP removed 11 sitting MLAs, changed the seats of two ministers in the first list in anti-incumbency wave

Less than 12 hours after the Congress released its first list, the BJP on Wednesday released its first list of 62 candidates for the November 12 assembly elections in Himachal Pradesh after deliberations late on Wednesday. The party has withheld names for the remaining six seats.

To stave off any anti-incumbency wave, the party has denied tickets to its 11 sitting MLAs, while sitting minister Suresh Bhardwaj’s seat was changed from Shimla (Urban) to Kasumpti and Rakesh Pathania’s from Nurpur to Fatehpur. Is.

More than a dozen new faces are also included in the list, including 11 names from Scheduled Castes and eight from Scheduled Tribes.

The first list includes the names of five women candidates. Tickets have been given to Indira Kapoor from Chamba, Rita Dhiman from Indora, Sarveen Chaudhary from Shahpur, Reena Kashyap from Pachhar and Shashi Bala from Rohru.

Col Inder Singh, the sitting MLA of Sarkaghat, has been denied ticket from Sarkaghat in Mandi under the age criterion.

The party seems to have ignored its insistence on ‘no dynastic politics’, giving tickets to the sons of a minister and two former BJP leaders. The BJP has fielded Rajat Thakur (Dharampur), son of Jal Shakti Minister Mahendra Singh. Chetan Bragata (Jubbal Kotkhai), son of former minister Narinder Bragata; and Anil Dhiman (Bhoranj), son of former minister ID Dhiman. Anil Sharma, son of former Congress communication minister Sukh Ram, will contest from Mandi.

Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur has been fielded from his constituency Siraj, while state finance commission chief Satpal Singh Satti will contest from Una.

Congress had announced its first list of 46 candidates late on Tuesday and discussions were going on for the remaining 22 seats. The last date for filing nominations is October 25.
