The Himachal Pradesh government has decided to give revised pay scales to its nearly two lakh employees from January 1, 2016.
This decision was taken in a meeting of the state cabinet chaired by Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur. This would incur an additional burden of approx. 4000 crores annually on the state exchequer.
He said that the salary of January 2022 to the state government employees would be payable in the revised pay scale in February 2022.
The State Government has already provided interim relief of approx. 5,000 crore to the employees as part of the arrears, he said.
In the cabinet meeting, it was also decided to increase the salary of contractual employees.
