Himachal Pradesh Assembly Elections: BJP released the first list of 62 candidates

BJP has released the first list of 62 candidates for the Himachal Pradesh Assembly elections. CM Jairam Thakur will contest from Siraj, Anil Sharma from Mandi and Satpal Singh Satti from Una.

However, BJP’s rival Congress on Tuesday released the first thirty-six names out of the sixty-eight seats. In which all the nineteen sitting MLAs have again got tickets in the first list.

In the 68-member Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly election, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won 44 seats defeating the Congress party, while the Congress secured only 21 seats in 2017.

At present, the BJP has 45 MLAs in the Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly, while the Congress has 22 and the CPIM 1 MLA.

In the upcoming state elections, AAP is trying to gain a foothold in Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh.

Last week, the Election Commission of India announced the schedule for the assembly elections in Himachal Pradesh.

The state will go to polls on November 12 and the counting of votes will take place on December 8.
