Himachal Pradesh Election 2022: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday (October 19) released a list of 62 candidates for the 2022 Himachal Pradesh Assembly elections.

Voting for the 68 assembly seats in the hill state is to be held on November 12 (Saturday) and the counting of votes will take place on December 8 (Thursday).

The last date for filing nominations is October 25 (Wednesday).

In the released list, Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur will contest from Siraj and Satpal Singh Satti will contest from Una seat.

Former Union Minister Sukh Ram’s son Anil Sharma has been fielded from Mandi seat.

The list of five women candidates was finalized at Monday’s meeting of the party’s Central Election Committee (CEC), whose members include Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other senior leaders.

Some sitting MLAs have been dropped.

In the 2017 election, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won 44 seats, while the Congress got 21 seats.

Meanwhile, Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Manish Garg on Tuesday (October 18) said that absentee voters in essential services (AVES) can cast their vote through postal ballot by submitting Form 12-D to the Returning Officer (RO). . release.

He further elaborated that the officers of this category of essential services include doctors, para-medical staff, ambulance service of health department, drivers and conductors of HRTC, except local route bus services, fire services, milk supply service of HP State Milk. employees are included. Federations and Milk Co-operative Societies, local media persons authorized by ECI, Pump Operators and Turners in Jal Shakti Department and Electricians and Linemen in HPSEB, who are enrolled in the electoral roll, can cast their vote through postal ballot.

He said that a certificate would be issued to these AVES by the respective nodal offices of the respective departments.

The CEO said that such applications seeking postal ballot facility should reach the Returning Officer (RO) by October 21, 2022. This facility is being expanded for the first time in Himachal Pradesh.
