Himachal Pradesh seals all interstate borders after Khalistani flag dispute in Dharamsala

The Himachal Pradesh government on Sunday ordered the sealing of all inter-state borders after Khalistan flags were found tied to the main gate and boundary wall of the Himachal Pradesh Assembly.

Taking quick action, the Himachal Pradesh government on Sunday ordered sealing of all inter-state borders and immediate blockade in the state.

Flags of Khalistan were found tied along the main gate and boundary wall of Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly in Dharamsala on Sunday morning, with pro-Khalistan slogans visible.

Himachal Pradesh Director General of Police Sanjay Kundu in a message to the district police chiefs asked them to ensure checking of vehicles entering the state.

“In view of the incidents of Khalistani elements in neighboring states and the tying of Khalistani banners in Una district on April 11 and the recent incident of Khalistan banners and graffiti on the outer boundary of the Assembly, as well as the threat posed by Sikhs for Justice ( SFJ) With regard to the announcement of the date of polling for Khalistan plebiscite in Himachal Pradesh, 6th June 2022, the entire state will be on high alert from today.

Kundu asked the police chiefs to tighten security in their jurisdiction. He also listed six preventive and precautionary measures that were to be implemented immediately.

It has been said in the order that the sealing of inter-state borders/barriers and blockade should be imposed immediately. Vigil has been beefed up along the inter-state borders and the police have been instructed to intensify night patrolling.

Special security units and bomb disposal squads have been put on high alert.

Apart from dams, railway stations and bus stoppages, security has also been tightened at important government establishments.

The state government has also decided to sensitize all watchmen and security guards working in government buildings, banks, public sector undertakings to report any matter of concern to the local police station.
