focus on knowledge and skills

Pradeep P., Commissioner, Collegiate and Technical Education, inaugurated the program and underlined the need to acquire relevant knowledge and skills today.

“Karnataka is the first state to implement the National Education Policy (NEP-2020) in higher education. The NEP says that the curriculum should be industry ready and relevant. Pedagogy should be more than conceptual analysis and critical analysis. Assessment should be based on your knowledge and understanding of concepts.’

“NEP has given importance to skill-based knowledge. Earlier we were studying with a view to get the exam and marks. But that will get you nowhere in your career field, whether you want to be an entrepreneur or get a job. Knowledge and skills keep changing every day. What is relevant today may not be relevant tomorrow. Hence, there should be continuous updating of knowledge and skills,” said Mr. Pradeep.

He said that today we have a lot of opportunities to update our knowledge and skills with the advent of internet and technology in India or abroad. Various foreign universities offer skill- and knowledge-based online courses. If you have the desire to learn, you have plenty of opportunities to update what you’ve learned,” he said.

Dr. Fr. Christ University’s Vice Chancellor Abraham VM said that the university has given importance to quality and skill-based education. He said there is a wide choice of foreign universities providing good academic training.
