Hockey India announces 30 members for Senior Men’s National Camp

Hockey India on Saturday announced a 30-member Core Prospective Group for the Senior Men’s National Coaching Camp starting from October 4 at SAI, Bengaluru.

After a successful campaign at the Tokyo Olympic Games, where India won a historic bronze medal and ended a 41-year wait, the Indian men’s core group will begin a new Olympic cycle in Paris 2024 with the intention of improving this performance.

The core group called for the national coaching camp comprises a mix of young and experienced players including PR Sreejesh, Krishna Bahadur Pathak, Suraj Karkera, Harmanpreet Singh, Dilpreet Singh, Surendra Kumar, Gurinder Singh, Amit Rohidas and Manpreet Singh.

Speaking about the upcoming national coaching camp, head coach Graham Reid said, “The players are coming off with a long and well deserved break. I believe they will look forward to coming back to the national camp and looking forward to the next year.” Will be excited to focus on their goals.

“We will go through our performance in the Olympics as an individual and as a team.”

He further emphasized that players should leave Tokyo’s success behind and start anew before a busy season in 2022.

“It is great to experience success at the Olympics, but now I want players to be mentally and physically prepared for a busy season in 2022, some very important tournaments starting with the FIH Hockey Pro League in February.

“This camp will be more about strength and conditioning and we will focus on starting slow.”
