Holi festival: Liquor shops open or closed today? know details here

As India celebrates the festival of Holi on Friday, several cities in India have decided to shut down liquor shops keeping petty disputes at bay. However, liquor shops will remain open with the deployment of adequate security personnel to prevent discord in the national capital.

In January this year, the Delhi government reduced the number of dry days from 21 to just 3 as part of the new alcohol scheme, Only Republic Day, Independence Day and Gandhi Jayanti will be observed as dry days.

However, liquor shops in the NCR region, especially in Noida and Ghaziabad, will remain closed today due to Holi. According to the Uttar Pradesh Excise Department, they will conduct surprise inspections of the shops. People will be fined if they find people with liquor bottles made for sale in Delhi.

The traffic police said that they would deploy additional teams to fine those who violated the rules like drunken driving.

Apart from Delhi-NCR region, liquor shops will also remain closed in Hyderabad. Liquor shops will remain closed till 6 am on Saturday. Indore district administration has also decided to close the liquor shops today due to the festival of Holi.
