Holiday in stock market: BSE, NSE to remain closed today on Guru Nanak Jayanti

Holiday in stock market: Indian stock markets BSE (Bombay Stock Exchange) and NSE (National Stock Exchange) will remain closed today on the occasion of Guru Nanak Jayanti. According to stock market holidays list 2021 Trading in Equity, Derivatives and SLB segments will remain suspended today – available on the official website of BSE – bseindia.com. There will also be no action in the currency derivatives segment and interest rate derivatives segment.

Meanwhile, trading in the commodity segment will also remain suspended from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm in the morning session, however, it will remain open from 5:00 pm in the evening session.

As per the Stock Market Holidays List 2021, this is the third stock market holiday in November 2021. Ahead of Guru Nanak Jayanti, trading on Indian indices was closed on 4 and 5 November 2021 for Diwali Lakshmi Pujan and Diwali Balipratipada respectively. In such a situation, after April 2021, November 2021 is the only month in which the stock market will be closed for three days. In April 2021, the Indian stock market was closed for Good Friday on April 2, Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Jayanti on April 14 and Ram Navami celebrations on April 21.

Guru Nanak Jayanti is the last stock market holiday in 2021. Thereafter there will be no stock market holiday this year, suggests a list of stock market holidays available on the BSE website.

On Thursday, the Indian stock market closed with a fall for the third consecutive session. NSE Nifty closed 133 points lower at 17,764 level while BSE Sensex lost 372 points to close at 59,636 level. Bank Nifty also closed 65 points lower at 37,976, which is below the psychological 40,000 level.

On a day when volumes on the NSE were above the recent average (helped by volumes in the freshly listed Paytm), all sectoral indices ended in the red. Metals, realty, capital goods, auto, IT and healthcare were leading losses. The BSE Midcap and Smallcap indices fell 1.52 per cent and 1.68 per cent, respectively.
