Holiday in stock market: NSE, BSE to remain closed today on Muharram

Holiday in stock market: There will be no trading activity in the stock market today due to Muharram. According to the information available on the official website of BSE, on Tuesday, August 9, 2022, trading on BSE (Bombay Stock Exchange) and NSE (National Stock Exchange) will be closed for the entire session.

According to list of holidays 2022 In the stock market, which is available on the official website of BSE – bseindia.com – there will be no action in the equity segment, equity derivatives segment and SLB segment today.

Trading in the Currency Derivatives segment and Interest Rate Derivatives segment will also remain suspended today as per the stock market holidays list in August 2022.

In the commodity segment, trading will remain suspended from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM in the morning session, but will remain open from 5:00 PM in the evening session.

Muharram is one of the stock market holidays in August 2022. The other two stock market holidays falling in August 2022 are Independence Day and Ganesh Chaturthi. Trading on NSE and BSE will remain suspended for Independence Day and Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations on 15 August 2022 and 31 August 2022 respectively. On 15th August and 31st August 2022, there will be no trading activity in Equity Segment, Equity Derivatives Segment and SLB Segment. Trading in Commodity Derivatives segment will be closed in both morning and evening shifts on 15th August 2022 while trading in Commodity Derivatives segment will be closed in morning session only on 31st August 2022.

After a sluggish start to Monday’s session, the Indian stock market pared early losses and ended near intraday highs. The Nifty 50 index closed 127 points higher at 17,525, while the BSE Sensex closed 465 points higher at 58,853, driven by buying in power, metals, capital goods and auto stocks. The Nifty Bank index ended 316 points higher at 38,237.

Bond yields eased their recent surge and investors weighed the prospects for an aggressive Federal Reserve rate hike against confident earnings. On Wall Street, the Dow Jones moved up 0.09 percent, the Nasdaq 0.10 percent, the S&P 500 0.12 percent south, while the Small Cap 2000 gained 1.10 percent in Monday’s session.
