Honda CB300R BS6 made its debut at India Bike Week 2021

Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) unveiled the CB300R BS6 at the recently concluded India Bike Week 2021. When the industry switched from BS4 to BS6 norms and the pandemic further delayed the arrival of the updated model, the motorcycle was pulled from the shelves. Even then, Honda CB300R Coming back and this time there’s even better news. The Neo Sports Cafe Racer will be manufactured locally instead of being locally assembled in the country. In a major move, Honda announced on the sidelines of IBW 2021 that it now plans to produce the CB300R in India. The Honda CB300R BS4 was priced at ₹ 2.41 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) and it will be interesting to see where the BS6 variant is priced. Note, since the transition, the prices of two-wheelers across the market have increased significantly and it will be interesting to see where the locally manufactured CB300R is ahead of its rivals. To give you perspective, the more comparable BMW G 310 R is priced at ₹ 2.60 Lakh, while the KTM 390 Duke costs ₹ 2.88 Lakh (all prices, ex-showroom Delhi). If Honda manages to nail down both the offerings by locally manufacturing the CB300R BS6, then it will definitely have some up its sleeve.

Meanwhile, it is not clear whether the Honda CB300R BS6 will see any mechanical changes in comparison to its predecessor. The motor will draw power from an upgraded 286cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled motor. The engine had previously produced around 31 bhp at 8,000 rpm and 27.4 Nm at 6,500 rpm, while mated to a 6-speed gearbox. Honda has announced that the bike will get an assist and slipper clutch this time around to make gear changes more comfortable. Visually, the 2022 Honda CB300R BS6 gets Golden USD front forks instead of silver, while the radiator cover is now finished in matte black instead of silver. The bike continues to sport highly likable styling.
