Honda City E: HEV Hybrid Sedan Launched in India; Price Rs. 19.50 lakh

Honda City e: HEV sedan is the first Honda car to bring Honda Sensing technology or ADAS features to India.

Honda Cars India launches hybrid model of its City sedan honda city e: HEV sedan priced at ₹ 19.50 lakh (ex-showroom, India) for its single ZX trim in the country. Honda City e: HEV sedan is the first Honda car to bring Honda Sensing technology or ADAS features to India. The Honda City e: HEV hybrid sedan will be manufactured in India at Honda’s manufacturing facility in Tapukara, Rajasthan. Its deliveries will start from today from its dealer network across the country.

Takuya Tsumura, President and CEO, Honda Cars India Limited said, “Today, we begin our electrification journey in India with the launch of the New City e:HEV, reaffirming our commitment to bring the best and most meaningful technologies to the country. The overwhelming response to the model’s unveiling last month reflects the acceptance of strong hybrid technology in the mainstream segment. The new City E: HEV offers several first in the segment, in line with the legacy of Honda City – with each introduction of the industry. sets the standard.”

The Honda City E: HEV Hybrid is powered by a 1.5-litre, four-cylinder, Atkinson cycle petrol engine and two electric motors, which combined make 124 bhp and 253 Nm of peak torque. Honda claims that the City Hybrid is 40 percent more fuel efficient than its petrol counterpart and claims a fuel efficiency of 26.5 kmpl. The Hybrid City is also 110 kg heavier than its petrol version. City E: HEV has been updated with disc brakes at all corners and electronic parking brake.

The Honda City E: HEV hybrid sedan has three drive modes – EV, hybrid and petrol, and can run on electric power in EV mode. Visually, the design sees very subtle changes to the car while the cabin gets upgraded with new upholstery and a hybrid-specific instrument cluster. Rest of the elements have been carried over from the ZX trim on which it is based. In terms of features, the Honda City E: HEV Hybrid gets ADAS functions through Honda Sensing such as Lane Change Assist, Pedestrian Alert and Adaptive Cruise Control.

There is also Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS), Road Departure Mitigation (RDM) and Auto High Beam. Other safety features include six airbags, Honda lane-watch, a 360-degree view camera and tire pressure monitoring.
