Honda Cars India is all set to launch the City e:HEV Hybrid on May 4, 2022. The automaker started accepting bookings for the hybrid variant earlier this month for a token amount of ₹21,000. new city The hybrid marks a huge leap in the mass market and promises to be the most powerful and fuel-efficient car in the compact sedan segment. The model will be available in the top-spec ZX trim and will be the first car in the segment to get ADAS.

Honda City e:HEV draws power from a 1.5-litre petrol motor coupled with 2 electric motors

Power on the Honda City Hybrid will come from a 1.5-litre, four-cylinder, Atkinson cycle petrol engine and two electric motors. The combined output stands at 124 bhp and 253 Nm of peak torque. Honda claims that the City Hybrid is 40 per cent more fuel efficient than its petrol counterpart and boasts of 26.5 kmpl. Note that the hybrid variant is about 110 kg heavier than its petrol-powered variant. City E: HEV has been updated with disc brakes at all corners and electronic parking brake.

The Honda City E: HEV also gets three drive modes – EV, Hybrid and Petrol, which can be toggled via the rotary knob. The car can run entirely on electric power in EV mode when you’re gentle on the throttle. Visually, the car has remained unchanged in design while the cabin gets subtle upgrades in the form of new upholstery and a hybrid-specific instrument cluster. The hybrid meter on the console shows when the car is running on electric power, when it is sourcing more power than the petrol engine and when it is generating energy.

As the first car in the segment to get ADAS through Honda Sensing, the City E: HEV will come with features like Lane Change Assist, Pedestrian Warning and Adaptive Cruise Control. There is also Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS), Adaptive Cruise Control, Road Departure Mitigation (RDM) and Auto High Beam. Other safety features include six airbags, Honda lane-watch, a 360-degree view camera, tire pressure monitoring and more.
