Star javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra, who was nominated for the coveted Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna after winning a historic gold at the Tokyo Olympics, said on Wednesday that he would continue to work hard to bring more honor to the country.

The 23-year-old Chopra, who became only the second Indian to win an individual Olympic gold at the Tokyo Games, is among 12 sportspersons nominated for the country’s highest sporting award.

He said, “Extremely honored to be awarded the Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna along with some outstanding sportspersons. Thank you very much for your cooperation and support (Thank you from the bottom of my heart for all your support) ,” They said. in a tweet.

“Try ye hi rahi ki aisi aisi apne apne se desh ke liye aur success baal kar paun! (I will continue to work to achieve more success for the country through my performances).”

Chopra became the first Indian to win an Olympic gold medal in athletics with a throw of 87.58m in Tokyo on 7 August.
