Hopefully no more bio-bubble things: Rishabh Pant ahead of South Africa T20Is

bright India Wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant has expressed relief for playing without the bio-secure bubble. BCCI has decided to remove the bio-bubble effect for the upcoming five-match T20I series against South Africa. The COVID-19 forced the cricketing world to impose bio-secure bubbles on the players for their safety, however, this affected their performance. Several players have suggested that the bio-bubble affects their performance and causes them mental fatigue.

Decision from Board of Control for Cricket India has been welcomed by players as Pant said it is satisfying for him to live without bubbles.

“Getting out of the bio-bubble is actually very satisfying. And hopefully, things are no longer bio-bubble, so I’m enjoying the time now, we’ve been through a lot,” Pant told SG Cricket Podcast .

The wicket-keeper batsman, who is currently in Delhi for the opening T20I of the series, said the bio-bubble affected the players mentally, resulting in poor performances.

“When you play all year round, especially with that kind of pressure it is important to give your mind a rest. If you can’t refresh your mind, you won’t give your hundred percent. We need to keep working on our mind and stay fresh,” Pant said.

When further asked about his strengths, the young cricketer said that he wants to be called wicketkeeper-batsman.

He said, ‘Whenever I come on the field, I always try to give my 100 percent but I was always a wicketkeeper-batsman. Because in my childhood I started keeping, because my father was also a wicketkeeper. That’s how I started wicketkeeping,” he said.

Pant had a tremendous IPL He scored 340 runs in 14 matches as he failed to take his team to the playoffs. He will act as KL Rahul’s deputy in the South Africa series.

The Indian team has started its preparations for the first T20I match against South Africa to be played on 9 June. Indian skipper Rohit Sharma has been rested for the five-match series along with other senior players including Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami.
