Houses of Parliament to work in shifts

Rajya Sabha meeting till 3 pm, Lok Sabha till 4-9 pm

During the upcoming budget session, Parliament will run in two shifts, with Rajya Sabha from 10 am to 3 pm and Lok Sabha from 4 pm to 9 pm.

At least two Parliament sessions have been held in this manner as part of the COVID protocol in the last two years. The restrictions were partially lifted after the second wave of the COVID pandemic when the number of cases began to decline. But now the protocol is back in view of the increasing cases of Omicron.

Both the Houses are sitting in shifts to enable the members to sit in both the Houses of Parliament to ensure social distancing.

On Sunday, Rajya Sabha Chairman Venkaiah Naidu tested positive for COVID. As per the data released till Sunday, 875 personnel working in the Parliament complex have tested positive.
