The Bengaluru Traffic Police has taken this step to raise awareness on heart health issues.

Several traffic lights in Karnataka’s Bengaluru city will display a red heart symbol between October 15 and October 25, news agency ANI reported. Bengaluru Traffic Police has taken steps to raise awareness on heart health issues.
Police have selected a total of 20 junctions in the technical capital where traffic lights will have a bright red heart as a stopping signal. In addition, banners and pamphlets will also be used, the report said.
“Joined hands with Manipal Hospitals to create awareness about heart health issues using traffic signals. Banners and pamphlets are also to be used. Between 15-25th 20 junctions were selected to display the hearts,” R Gowda, Joint Commissioner of Police, Traffic Bengaluru City, was quoted as saying by the news agency.
In pictures shared by ANI on Twitter, a traffic light is seen displaying a red heart next to the countdown timer.

This year on World Heart Day, Manipal Hospitals installed heart shaped traffic lights at junctions to make people aware of heart health. “On the occasion of World Heart Day, Manipal Hospitals sets up innovations to encourage Bangalore to become a ‘Heart Smart City’,” a tweet from the hospital said.
The hospital also posted several pictures of heart-shaped traffic lights and banners with QR codes.

In a later post, the hospital shared that they used audio messages to spread awareness about heart health. Apart from this, QR codes were also pasted on the banners which allow one to access emergency services without dialing the emergency number.
