How Delhi Police laid a trap to catch the snatcher, the lady constable took control

Accused Armaan is involved in more than 60 cases.

A woman policeman played a key role in the arrest of a snatcher in Delhi, who has been accused of theft in over 60 cases in Delhi and neighboring Gurgaon, police said.

In the last few days, the increase in snatching cases in Dwarka and adjoining areas of South-West Delhi has emerged as a matter of great concern. A bike rider targeting women had come under the police radar.

To nab the accused, who was later identified as Armaan, the Delhi Police launched an operation – “we are too (We are there too)”, and a female constable – Saroj Singh – was given the task of apprehending him.

Acting on an input that the accused would be in Dwarka’s Sector 13 on Saturday, Sub-Inspector Saroj Singh was asked to take a walk in the neighborhood wearing a heavy gold chain.

“The rest of the team had taken cover. As soon as the accused approached Saroj Singh while trying to snatch the gold chain, the police came out to stop the escape attempt. The accused started firing. At that time, the woman The policeman took out his pistol, shot him in the leg and brought the situation under control,” said police officer Shankar Choudhary.

Officials said 22-year-old Armaan lives in north-west Delhi’s Jahangirpuri and has 25 cases of theft registered against him in neighboring Gurgaon. He said that 36 cases in Dwarka district have been solved with his arrest.
