How to get a seat in NITs, IITs on the basis of JEE Score, JoSAA, What is the CSAB counseling process?

The results of JEE Main 2022 were declared by the National Testing Agency (NTA) on Monday, August 8. Out of all the examinees, who have secured less than 2.5 lakh rank, they can now easily register for JEE Advanced before August 11. Once JEE Advanced Result Declared, Counseling Process for Admission in Indian Institutions technology (IIT), National Institute technology (NIT), and other engineering colleges will start.

Counseling for admission to IITs, NITs and IIITs is conducted by Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) and Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB). JoSAA conducts counseling for IIT admissions as well as for NIT+ system for NITs, IIITs, and more. CSAB on the other hand provides counseling for additional seats in the NIT+ system.

JoSAA is going to conduct six rounds in which students will be allotted seats in various institutes. After that, CSAB will take care of two special counseling rounds for the remaining seats through its online portal.

An official statement on the website of CSAB said, “JoSAA-2022 is jointly conducted for the first year of Engineering/Technology and Architecture/Planning programs of IITs and NITs+Systems for the academic session 2022-23 through an online portal. will admit the candidates jointly. There will be six rounds of JoSAA counselling. On completion of JoSAA-2022 counselling, if any seat remains vacant in the NIT+ system (except seats in IITs), CSAB-2022 through its online portal (https://csab.nic.in).

In addition, CSAB will conduct a separate CSAB-Supernumerary round for admission to additional seats in selected NITs in the Union Territories of Andaman & Nicobar, Daman & Diu, Lakshadweep, and Dadra & Nagar Haveli. CSAB to allot seats to candidates from North-Eastern States and Union Territories under the scheme of “Reservation of seats in degree level technical courses for States/UTs lacking such facilities in AICTE-approved institutions”. Will also administer the NEET round.

JEE Advanced admit cards will be made available to the eligible students by August 23 and will have to be carried to their respective examination halls on August 28.
